Law enforcement officers of the Vitebsk customs, together with employees of the drug control units of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee and the Department for Drug Control and Combating human trafficking of the Zavodsky district administration of Minsk, detained a 41-year-old Belarusian employee of an Internet drug store.
The drug courier was installed as part of the CSTO's sub-regional anti-drug operation "Canal-Mountain Outpost".
More than 4 kg of the particularly dangerous psychotropic substance alpha-PVP, which he acquired in Russia and intended to distribute on the territory of Belarus, was seized from a native of Gomel.
His task was to divide large quantities of prohibited substances into doses and create caches with bookmarks, the coordinates of which were known to the final drug recipients.
At the time of the drug courier's arrest, part of the psychotropic drug had already been divided into 1,200 doses of various volumes.
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the citizen under Part 3 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
An investigation is also underway on the grounds of a crime under Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus on the illegal movement of psychotropic substances across the border.
