The operational customs has initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus against a group of citizens who used a criminal scheme to import premium class cars into the territory of the EAEU.
During the operational search and investigative measures, customs officers established that the participants in the scheme, having previously created a legal entity for the convenience of mutual settlements, organized the illegal movement of new vehicles across the border to their own address for subsequent resale.
At the same time, they provided documents for customs clearance containing information about the alleged following of cars to individuals for personal use.
The rates of customs duties for individuals are an order of magnitude lower than for legal entities. Accordingly, incorrect information was submitted to the customs in order to avoid paying customs duties and disposal fees in full.
In total, about 300 electric vehicles and hybrids were moved in this way, for each of which up to 60 thousand rubles were not paid to the budget. The total damage amounted to about 10 million rubles.
Storage locations for more than 100 Li, Voyah, and Zeekr vehicles worth more than 11 million rubles have been established, which have been seized for damage compensation.
Belarusian citizens who have organized criminal activities will face criminal liability up to six years in prison.
