Officers of the Minsk Regional Customs have identified an attempt to illegally transport a batch of a medicinal product containing a psychotropic substance across the customs border.

Pills were found in the possession of an Israeli citizen who arrived at Minsk National Airport. He chose the green channel of the checkpoint and stated that he had no goods to declare with him.

However, 170 tablets were found in the passenger's accompanied baggage during the inspection. The result of the examination is that they contain the dangerous psychotropic substance oxazepam, which is allowed only for controlled circulation.

The Operational Customs opened a criminal case against the citizen in accordance with Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

We would like to point out that medicines containing psychotropic substances which are transported across the customs border must be declared in writing.

Individuals are allowed to import and export psychotropic substances in an amount not exceeding 90 single doses in the form of medicines for personal use for medical reasons, provided they have supporting medical documents or copies thereof, indicating the name and quantity of such drugs and substances.
