Customs officers at the Brest checkpoint stopped an attempt to import more than 6.3 kg of pills containing a particularly dangerous drug into the territory of the EAEU.

A 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen driving an OPEL car was traveling from Poland to Belarus. I crossed the customs border through the red corridor because I was temporarily importing my vehicle.

The three cans of dietary supplements for athletes that he moved among his personal belongings, as indicated by the labels on them, seemed suspicious to the customs inspector. The driver of the car explained that he had moved this product at the request of third parties.

According to the expert opinion of the Office of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations in the Brest region, the seized pills contain a particularly dangerous narcotic drug, codeine.

As a result of the operational search measures carried out jointly with colleagues from the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the customers and recipients of the prohibited cargo were identified. They turned out to be Russian citizens living in Simferopol. The criminals have been detained.

Brest Customs has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to imprisonment for up to 10 years.
