Grodno customs officers stopped the import of about 38 kg of hashish into the territory of the EAEU during operational search measures. A Moldovan citizen tried to move a batch of drugs hidden in a cache.

A man from Lithuania was traveling through the "Kamenny Log" checkpoint in an empty cargo vehicle.

An inspection using an inspection complex confirmed the assumptions of customs officers regarding the possible import of prohibited substances in this car. The resulting scan revealed a niche specially equipped in the vehicle structure.

During the inspection, 22 packages wrapped in duct tape with a dark-colored substance were removed from it.

The expert opinion of the Lida Interdistrict Department of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations confirmed that the seized substance is hashish.

During further verification measures and urgent investigative actions, the organizer of the delivery was identified - a 54-year-old citizen of the Republic of Belarus.

The Grodno Regional Customs has opened a criminal case against him under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to 10 years in prison.

The Grodno prosecutor's office has authorized a preventive measure against the man - detention.
