During special operations on the Belarusian-Russian border, Gomel customs officers established two facts of illegal export of fresh pears to Russia.

Truck drivers belonging to a Belarusian carrier presented documents for fresh carrots to customs officers. Only upon inspection of vehicles is it found that behind the declared vegetables are stashed batches of fruit.

In total, over 40 tons of pears worth over 270 thousand Belarusian rubles were transported without documents and phytosanitary certificates confirming the safety of products.

Gomel Customs has initiated administrative proceedings against the carrier in accordance with Article 13.12 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus (violation of the procedure for transporting goods). The sanction of the article provides for a fine of up to 50% of the value of the subject of an administrative offense.
