Brest customs officers stopped the activities of a group of people who organized the illegal movement of more than 155 kg of liquid containing precursors of drugs and psychotropic substances across the Belarusian-Polish border.

The organizers of the illegal scheme disguised the prohibited substances as cans of brake fluid and transported them under the guise of goods for personal use through the Brest checkpoint. Third parties who did not know what was in the container were involved in transportation for a monetary reward.

A total of 24 canisters of dangerous liquid were seized, of which 13 were on the territory of Brest.

Experts from the Office of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations in the Brest region identified the precursors contained in the liquid - "4'-chlorpropiophenone", "2-Bromo-4'-chlorpropiophenone" and "alpha-bromvalerophenone".

Brest Customs has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of this article provides for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years.

During the operational search and urgent investigative actions, law enforcement officers of the Brest Customs identified and detained persons involved in criminal activities.
