Belarusian customs officers have stopped the import of about 100 kg of hashish from Europe to Belarus. The movement of a large batch of drugs was organized by Lithuanians and Belarusians by prior agreement.
The dangerous narcotic drug was decomposed into 180 vacuum packages and hidden in a hollow space under the floor panels of a truck belonging to a Lithuanian carrier.
The location of hashish was established by Grodno customs officers at the Kamenny Log checkpoint, where the vehicle with the concentrated pear puree arrived for clearance.
An inspection system was used to inspect the car, and additional equipment was installed using a scan.
A study of the substance conducted by experts from the Office of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations of the Republic of Belarus in the Grodno region confirmed that it was hashish.
During the implementation of a set of operational search measures, Grodno customs officers, in cooperation with the Operational and Vitebsk customs offices, and the State Customs Committee, identified two Lithuanians as the organizers of the criminal group. Belarusians were also detained and taken into custody.
Grodno regional Customs has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years.
