At the Kozlovichi checkpoint customs officers prevented an attempt to illegally import 14 dirt bikes. They were transported in a MAN truck belonging to a Polish carrier.
During the weight and dimension check, a discrepancy was detected: the actual weight of the goods was almost 4 tons, instead of the 2 tons declared in the accompanying documents.
During an inspection of the cargo compartment of the vehicle, customs officers discovered the motorcycles, which were not declared.
Their value was approximately 500,000 Belarusian rubles, which equates to 89,000 Belarusian rubles in outstanding customs duties.
Brest Customs initiated administrative proceedings against the Polish carrier under Article 15.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus. The penalty for this offense is a fine of up to 30% of the value of the subject of the administrative offense.
