Another international channel for the supply of large quantities of drugs from the European Union has been stopped by the customs authorities of Belarus. And this time, an unsuccessful attempt was made to import 260 kg of hashish into the territory of the EAEU.
To import a particularly large amount of drugs, the organizers of the criminal scheme used a truck from a Polish carrier who arrived for registration at the Berestovica checkpoint.
According to the documents, a "combined cargo" was transported in it, which was imported from Poland to the address of the Belarusian recipient. The latter did not know that the criminals had hidden hashish in the legally imported goods.
So, the customs officers sent the truck from the customs border for inspection to the departmental customs clearance point "Bruzgi-TLC". It was here that 100 briquettes with a brown substance were found among the goods transported according to the documents.
The expert opinion of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations confirmed that the substance is a dangerous narcotic drug - hashish. The weight of the drug was 260 kg.
Further urgent investigative actions and joint operational search measures with Russian customs officers made it possible to identify and detain the recipient of the hashish shipment, a 41-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation.
The Grodno Regional Customs and the Central Operational Customs of the Federal Customs Service of Russia have initiated criminal cases. The members of the criminal group face imprisonment for up to 20 years.
