An attempt to illegally import five exotic lizards from Poland was stopped by Brest customs officers. The reptiles were seized and transferred to the Minsk Zoo.

The unusual luggage belonged to a 44-year-old bus passenger traveling through the "Brest" checkpoint. The woman chose the "green" channel to cross the customs border, saying that she had nothing to declare.

Customs officers examined her luggage using an X-ray machine. The obtained images left no doubt about the need for an inspection.

As a result, five plastic containers were removed from the foam box, each of which contained a crested gecko.

Brest Customs has initiated an administrative process in relation to a Russian citizen in accordance with Part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus (movement of goods subject to declaration with concealment from customs control).
