A citizen of Ukraine faces up to 7 years in prison for attempting to import a firearm cartridge into the territory of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

At the Benyakoni checkpoint, a passenger in a FIAT car stated that he had no goods to declare.

But examining the bag of belongings, the customs officer found a cartridge with a "SHS 19" marking on the sleeve. The man explained that he had found the cartridge at a construction site in Europe.

According to the expert's conclusion, the discovered cartridge is factory-made and is an intermediate cartridge (5.56 X 45NATO) - ammunition for hand-held small-arms rifled firearms.

The Grodno Regional Customs has opened a criminal case on the grounds of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 333-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
