99 thousand US dollars were hidden from customs control by the driver of a Mercedes-Benz car who arrived at the Brest checkpoint.
A Russian citizen was traveling to the territory of the EAEU from Moldova in a car with a foreign registration. To pass through the customs border, the man chose a red corridor to arrange the temporary importation of a vehicle.
During the oral interview, the citizen stated that he had nothing to declare, he was moving only personal belongings and about 900 US dollars in equivalent.
The inspector doubted this. During subsequent inspection, a large amount of money was found under food in a portable refrigerator, several times exceeding the amount allowed for movement without declaration.
Brest Customs has opened a criminal case against a citizen in accordance with Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for a fine, or restriction, imprisonment for up to five years. Cash is withdrawn before the court decision.
