Today, at the World Customs Organization, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky and Comptroller General of the Customs Service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Adewale Bashir signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters.

The starting point for cooperation between the customs services was a meeting last year in Minsk, when a Joint Declaration of Intent to cooperate was signed, and experts began active work on the development and approval of a draft Memorandum.

From now on, the parties will provide mutual assistance in ensuring the proper application of the provisions of customs legislation, preventing, investigating and combating customs offenses, as well as promptly exchanging the necessary information.

The leaders expressed confidence that the established cooperation between the two countries would have a positive impact on the development of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Nigeria.

The 145/146 sessions of the World Customs Organization, attended annually by the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, are taking place in Brussels these days.

The meetings consider decisions and recommendations on customs issues, hear reports from the Secretary General and heads of the main WCO working groups, and discuss key issues in the organization's areas of activity.
