Brest customs officers confiscated mushrooms containing a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance from a 35-year-old Grodno resident traveling on a bus from Poland.
At the Brest border crossing, the man chose the green corridor and, when questioned, stated that he was not carrying any prohibited or restricted goods.
A service dog's behavior indicated otherwise. Further inspection revealed that the man had hidden a cloth bag containing greenish-brown substances under his clothing.
An examination by the State Forensic Expertise Committee for the Brest Region revealed that the mushrooms contained the particularly dangerous psychotropic substance psilocybin. Brest Customs has opened a criminal case against a citizen for attempting to import psychotropic substances under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
The man has been detained and faces up to 10 years in prison.Related tags
