Gomel customs officers seized about 2 kg of marijuana from a resident of the regional center during operational search measures together with drug control and anti-trafficking officers of the Zhlobinsky district police department.
Packages, parcels, jars with a dark green substance of plant origin, as well as cannabis bushes were found during an inspection of the 39-year-old man's garage.
The Zhlobinsky interdistrict department of the SCSE confirmed that the substance sent for examination was a dangerous narcotic drug.
The citizen spoke about the process of collecting raw materials of wild cannabis near Zhlobin and further secret harvesting of marijuana from it for his own consumption.
A criminal case has been opened against the man under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Now he can be imprisoned for up to five years.
