Hoping to illegally import a platinum necklace with precious stones from Lithuania to Belarus, a Moldovan citizen hid it from customs control.
The statement of the passenger of the MERCEDES car about the absence of goods subject to declaration did not inspire confidence among Grodno customs officers from the Benyakoni checkpoint.
And this was justified during the inspection of the man's luggage - a paper parcel was found, covered with duct tape, in which the necklace was located.
The examination revealed that the necklace itself is made of platinum, and the inserts in it are diamonds and purple spinel. The cost of the jewelry was about 420 thousand rubles.
The Grodno Regional Customs has opened a criminal case against a citizen for evading large-scale payments on the grounds of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
Another Moldovan citizen will be brought to administrative responsibility for the illegal movement of a silver church cup. The citizen hid it from customs control in the sleeves of his jacket, disassembling it into two parts.
Following from Lithuania in a MERCEDES-BENZ car along the red corridor of the Kamenny Log checkpoint, he filed a declaration for the temporary importation of the vehicle and informed customs officers that he no longer had any goods to be declared with him.
After the discovery of the cup by Grodno customs officers, he explained that he had purchased the goods in Moldova and was taking them to a friend in Moscow. The man confessed that he had deliberately hidden it.
The cost of an almost kilogram cup is more than 1,200 euros.
A protocol on an administrative offense has been drawn up in relation to this citizen in accordance with Part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus.
