A 33-year-old citizen of Belarus, a passenger on the Poznan-Gomel bus, "forgot" to declare a large amount of money crossing the border.

A citizen who arrived from Poland followed the green corridor of the Brest checkpoint, thereby confirming that he had no goods to declare with him.

Passing through customs control, the man passed through an arched metal detector, which helped the Brest customs officer to establish that there were attachments in the pockets of the citizen's jacket. They turned out to be seven white paper parcels wrapped with sticky tape, containing 31 thousand euros.

Upon further inspection, more than 6.5 thousand euros were found in the notebook and wallet that were in the citizen's backpack.

In total, the total amount of the currency was about 42 thousand US dollars in equivalent, which is 32 thousand more than the amount allowed to move abroad without declaration.

Brest Customs has opened a criminal case against a Belarusian citizen for the illegal movement of large amounts of cash under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

The currency is withdrawn before the court decision.
