Among the equipment legally transported from Russia to Belarus, 4.5 kg of toxic chemicals were intended to be imported.

A shipment of mercury salts in one of the trucks coming from Russia was discovered by employees of the Gomel and Operational customs during a special operation.

The vehicle was stopped on a section of the M-10 road in Dobrushsky district. The driver stated that he was moving various equipment, and provided accompanying documents to confirm this.

The customs officers searched the car. It turned out that in addition to the declared goods, there is a cardboard box with 35 kg of various chemicals in the cargo compartment.

The chemicals were seized and sent for examination to the State Committee for Forensic Examinations, where it was found that 4.5 kg of them were water–soluble mercury salts.

Gomel Customs conducted an inspection on the grounds of committing a crime under Articles 333-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (illegal movement of toxic substances across the State border of the Republic of Belarus).

The materials were sent to the office of the Investigative Committee for the Gomel region.
