Brest customs officers have established the illegal import of household appliances into the EAEU that differed from those declared in the documents submitted for inspection.

A Polish truck carrying a consignment of goods valued at approximately 55,000 rubles arrived at the Kozlovichi checkpoint.

Using X-ray inspection complex revealed that the vehicle contained appliances that did not match those declared.

Upon inspection, this was confirmed: the imported items consisted of 46 built-in refrigerators, washer-dryers, microwave ovens, dishwashers, and other items, valued at approximately 250,000 rubles.

By attempting to import goods that were similar in appearance but different in value, the intention was to save approximately 5,000 rubles in customs duties. Brest Customs initiated administrative proceedings against the Polish carrier under Article 15.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus. The penalty under this article is a fine of up to 30% of the value of the item being violated.
